In Soft Landing eight individual practices diverge, merge and, at times, intersect. Specific words cross through these practices and offer us places to meet, or open up into: absurdity, connection, curiosity, darkness, devotion, disparate, domestic, empathy, seeing, insecurity, displacement, in-between, love, realities, place and energy, shelter, sleep, trauma and vessel. These words are at work in this exhibition, encompass many facets of our human experience, and acknowledge powerful internal states and emotions. At the core of what these artists explore is in fact what it means to be human in a world riddled with personal, social, cultural, ecological and environmental complexities.
