News

Dear members,

we kindly remind you of the annual meeting of the Living Art Museum, next Wednesday, May 3, at 17:00. The meeting will be held in Nýló’s premises at the Marshall House. The meeting notice was sent out April 19 and published on this page.

All seats on the board and deputy board are vacant: The Chairman will be elected for one year, four members of the main board will be elected for two years each and three deputies will be elected for one year each. Attention is drawn to the fact that in order to fill the board, four candidacies must be received.

Candidacies:

— Sunna Ástþórsdóttir, Chairman of the board, will run again for the Chairman.

— Guðlaug Mía Eyþórsdóttir will run again for a seat on the board. Joe Keys and Renate Feizaka are also running.

— Auður Ómarsdóttir, Lúkas Bury and Þorsteinn Eyfjörð will run for a seat on the deputy board.

Are you interested?

Members that are interested in serving on the board are asked to announce their candidacy to Nýló's office by sending an e-mail to nylo(at)nylo.is or come forward at the beginning of the meeting.

The board of the museum is the highest authority in the affairs of Nýló. In order to give those interested a little context and understanding of its role please read the following: The board shapes the museum's policy, and the main decisions regarding Nýló's activities go through the board. For example, the board selects exhibitions and evaluates donations to the museum collection. The board meets monthly at board meetings where the matters of the museum are reviewed but meets more often around special projects. The board's contribution is in the form of voluntary work and thus takes into account everyone's time and energy, but it is assumed that those who run for a seat on the board can actively participate in the activities. Sometimes a board is called for an urgent task, for example during installation and therefore it is preferred that board members are based in Iceland. Sitting on Nýló's board is an opportunity to make a difference and get your ideas across regarding the museum, shape the collection, and directly participate in the exhibition programs and other projects.
