1. The Living Art Museum’s Collection’s facilities  – Current Status and Future Prospects

In recent months, it has become clear that the Living Art Museum’s conservation space in Völvufell, Breiðholt, is no longer adequate as a storage facility for artworks or as a workspace for the collections manager. The reasons are numerous: the building is scheduled for demolition in the coming years, and consequently, the city has almost ceased all maintenance on the building, which is now in poor condition due to damage and dampness. Furthermore, the heating and electricity have been unreliable for a long time.

It is therefore timely to consider moving the collection in the very near future, and the museum's staff and board have begun preparations for this project. As part of this work, the Living Art Museum has accepted an invitation to participate in the Working Group on the Future Arrangement of Conservation Spaces for Art Museums last February. The working group includes Heiðar Kári Rannversson, Chairman of the Board of the Living Art Museum, representatives from the Reykjavík Art Museum, and the City of Reykjavík's Department of Culture and Sport. Additionally, representatives from the National Gallery of Iceland and the Ministry of Culture, Innovation, and University Affairs will be involved in the work. The person responsible is Arnfríður S. Valdimarsdóttir, Head of the Office of Cultural Affairs for the City of Reykjavík.

The role of the working group is to explore the options for creating a comprehensive future vision for conservation spaces for the Living Art Museum and the Reykjavík Art Museum, also the National Gallery of Iceland. The working group is expected to begin its work in April and will submit proposals by the end of 2026.

It should be noted that the working group will only submit proposals, which will be presented to the museum's board and members before any further decisions are made about the future of the Living Art Museum's collection. Further information about the working group can be found in the Minutes of the Culture and Sports Council meeting on 13/02/2026.

At the annual meeting this matter will be up for discussion and members are encouraged to bring any concerns, comments and/or ideas regarding the collection and this situation – your voice is extremely important as the Living Art Museum's collection belongs to us all!

2. Elections and Term of the Living Art Museum's Board – Arrangement and Execution

The arrangement and execution of elections, including phone voting, and whether to change the term length for the chairperson and the board have been discussed at recent annual meetings. It will be proposed that a working group of representatives be established to examine these matters in detail.

All members of the Living Art Museum are welcome. We look forward to seeing you!
