A visit from Bulgarian Municipal Representatives

The Living Art Museum and North Consulting in Iceland had the pleasure of hosting a visit from municipal representatives from three cities in Bulgaria from May 17, 2023 through May 19, 2023. The visit was a part of Ritual Gatherings, a project aimed at strengthening cultural relationships between the two countries.

We set up a program for our visitors, which aimed to introduce them to the Icelandic contemporary art scene with visits to museums and exhibition spaces, and to introduce them to Icelandic cultural policies, activities and support structures for culture within different municipalities in the Capital area. The program consisted of a visit to Reykjavík Art Museum, The Reykjavík Cultural Office, cultural institutions in Hafnarfjörður and Kópavogur, and The Marshall House.

The visit marked the conclusion of Ritual Gathering, an international collaborative project led by our partner institution in Bulgaria, ASORI. Previous project activities include the two day forum Contemporary Cultural Conversations, where The Living Art Museum provided a program on the first day, dedicated to cultural entrepreneurship and socially engaged art. The program included contributions from artists Wiola Ujazdowska, Pola Sutryk and anthropologist Anna Wojtynska.
