Opening: Sequences XII Pause - Aftertime
The exhibition Aftertime opens in The Living Art Museum as part of Sequences XII: Pása
Artists: Ina Nian, Lagos Studio Archives (Karl Ohiri and Riikka Kassinen), Santiago Mostyn, Sasha Huber, Sheida Soleimani
Curator: Daría Sól Andrews
Aftertime brings together artists exploring the politics of time through racialized perspectives. Santiago Mostyn, Sheida Soleimani, Ina Nian, Lagos Studio Archives (Karl Ohiri and Rikka Kassinen) and Sasha Huber reflect on histories of colonization, slavery, and systemic neglect. Inspired by Christina Sharpe's notion of living "in the wake" of slavery, the exhibition examines how time and slowness are unequally experienced and valued. These works question whose time is honored, and how reclaiming time can be an act of resistance.
Aftertime is part of Sequences real time festival's twelfth edition Pause.
The festival program will run from the 10th - 20th of October.
