Nýló Reading Club: Consideration (As an Antidote to Critique)

Jóhannes Dagson will lead the discussion on the evening of Thursday, March 2nd at 20:30 at the Living Art Museum, Marshall House. Anna Líndal will facilitate the evening.  Jóhannes has chosen Consideration (As an Antidote to Critique) by Karen Schiff. The text deals with ideas about criticism & reflection, how different ideas & terms are used in discussions, and analysis of the arts within teaching and learning in the field. The text is from Schiff’s book Beyond Critique: Contemporary Art in Theory, Practice, and Instruction (2017). The conversation will take place in Icelandic.

Jóhannes Dagsson is a philosopher and a visual artist. He holds a PhD in philosophy from the University of Calgary (2012). His research takes place at the intersection of philosophy of mind, philosophy of language and aesthetics. Questions surrounding perception and meaning in the context of art define his research. Jóhannes uses his research in his teaching, publications, and his visual art.
